Target Group

The target group is personnel whom wants to achieve DP Induction Certificates with 60 days of sea time on DP Ship

Aim

• Have acquired knowledge of the principles of DP
• Have acquired a basic understanding of how to set up a DP system
• Be able to relate DP operations to the existing environmental conditions of wind, sea state, current/tidal stream and vessel movement.

Validity

Pre-requisites

Candidates must belong to one of the following catergories

1.  Be in possession of an STCW Deck, Engine or ETP Certificate of Competency issued by a Maritime Administration
2. The Minimum qualification will be set at STCW Regulation II/1- II/2-II/3 Deck. Regulation III/1 - III/2 - III/3 Engine or III/6  ETO
3. Have an approved MVQ endorsed by a Maritime Administration: these are considered by the NI on a case by case basis. The Nautical Institute defines an MVQ as a non-STCW Certificate of Competency issued by a (IMO) white list Maritime Administration for use in the Administration's local waters only
4. Prospective DPs who are in the process of training for a Deck or Engine STCW certificate of competency can undertake the DPO Induction Course and 30 days DP Seatime Familiarization only
